I'm working with some new plaster and I'm debating whether to use a mist coat or a primer. I was considering using Leyland's multi-purpose primer undercoat, but I'm wondering if it really makes a difference. What's the best approach here?

Using a mist coat will help absorb moisture better. It's a budget-friendly option, and you'll end up using less paint for the final coats, so it's a win-win!
For new plaster, it's recommended to go with a mist coat instead of a regular primer. Basically, a mist coat is just regular emulsion paint thinned out with water (around a 70/30 or 60/40 mixture). This helps the paint soak into the plaster and seals it well, ensuring that the later layers adhere properly.
Definitely use a primer or mist coat on your fresh plaster to get a better bond. Leyland’s primer undercoat is a solid choice. Just make sure to follow the instructions for the best results!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll make sure to follow the instructions closely.
