I'm finishing up the base trim in the room over my garage before installing carpet, and I'm stuck on whether to use a bullnose trim on my steps or just let the carpet run straight over them. The rest of my home's stairs are hardwood, which doesn't help much for this decision. Here are my two options: 1. Go without a bullnose, which would give the steps a flat front and no distinctive feature. 2. Use a premade bullnose section that would need some cutting of OSB to fit, although I'm worried about potential thickness issues with what's available locally. I'm considering using my router to adjust the size, but I'm hesitant to nail it down for structural reasons. What do you guys think?

I’ve carpeted stairs without a bullnose, and honestly, the flat front has worked out just fine for me. So if the look doesn’t bother you, skipping the bullnose could save you some hassle!

Could you share a photo of your stairs? I’ve only seen carpet on hardwood with bullnose, so I’m curious how it looks without it.
