Hey everyone! I'm a total beginner and have successfully made a couple of small projects for my home. I'm getting more tools and I'm eager to build something new, like a small dresser out of plywood. I want it to look nice, so I'm considering adding some veneer. Is this something a beginner like me can handle, or should I hold off on it for now? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Veneering doesn't have to be complicated! There are self-adhesive veneers and edge banding that you can iron on. I'd recommend looking for plywood that's already veneered if you really want that elegant look. Might make things easier for a beginner like you!
I've been in your shoes! I’m doing a parquet headboard with veneer and plywood using warm hide glue. This old-school method is forgiving—if I make a mistake, I can just reheat the glue and fix it. It doesn’t require harsh chemicals or heavy clamps, which is a plus for beginners. Sometimes, the traditional ways turn out to be the best!
You might want to try flex wood; it’s super easy to apply and works kind of like wallpaper. I had a good experience with it before—definitely worth checking out!
I’ve never heard of flex wood! I’ll look into that, thanks!
If you’re looking to make your project stand out, try to find nicer plywood first, ideally with a good show face. You can enhance the edges with hardwood banding, too. Veneering is definitely doable; just ensure you have enough clamping pressure, which you can achieve by putting some heavy items on top or even using vacuum bags if you have them. There are a lot of how-to videos out there that can help you get started!
Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely check for nicer plywood and heavy items to try clamping. Appreciate it!

That sounds great! I’ll probably try on a small piece first to see how it goes. Thanks!
