Should I Use Wax or Oil on Dyed Pine Wood?

I've recently dyed some pine wood using coloron wood dyes, and now I'm looking to seal and protect the finish. I'm not a fan of the shiny look of polyurethane, so I'm considering alternatives like clear finishing wax, finishing oil, or boiled linseed oil. What do you all recommend or think about these options?

It really depends on what you're using it for! Oil finishes generally soak in and don't provide surface protection. Personally, I like using Danish oil followed by a coat of satin polyurethane for my furniture. But since you're not keen on the poly look, maybe stick with a wax or oil that gives a more natural finish.

If you’re concerned about protection, keep in mind that a hardened oil or finishing wax won't provide the same surface durability as polyurethane. But they can definitely enhance the wood's appearance without that shiny look! Just make sure to reapply wax periodically.
