Should I Wait for M12 Forge Batteries or Just Grab a Deal Now?

I'm looking into getting some M12 HO batteries for my stubby impact and surge impact driver, and I'm curious about the upcoming M12 Forge versions. Are they really going to bring any significant benefits, especially since the HO XC5.0 already delivers top torque? Will it just be quicker charging and longer cycle life? Should I grab some HO batteries during this pre-Pipeline sale, or is it worth the wait for the Forge models?

I feel you on this! The M12 impact driver is already pretty powerful—maybe even more than the old M18s. Upgraded M12 batteries are coming for sure, like the expected ampace jp30 cells, which promise better performance and longer runtime. That could lead to more powerful M12 tools in the future, which is exciting! But if your current setup is working fine for you, it might be worth waiting to see the Forge models when they drop.

Definitely keep an eye on those M12 Forge batteries! I'm really excited about them too. I’ve used M18 Forge batteries with M12 tools before, and the performance boost was something else. Of course, that’s not a direct comparison, but it shows they can handle more amps and really deliver. Just a heads up, though—I’d recommend waiting a little longer for more details before jumping on any sales, but if you need batteries now, why not grab a deal?

Thanks for the insight! Sounds like the Forge batteries could be a smart upgrade long-term.

I found a video that tested various M12 battery types, and it showed only about a 5% increase in performance when switching from a 5.0 to a newer model. Plus, the current M12 rapid charger doesn’t really charge faster than 4.5a, so without a new charger, the Forge packs won’t be any quicker to charge either. If you really need batteries now, I’d say go for a deal—you won’t regret having a backup!
