Hey fellow gardeners! I'm new to gardening and living in NE Scotland. I'm currently planning some new borders for my garden, but they're still in the works. I got a little excited at the local garden center today and picked up a few plants that I absolutely had to have. Right now, they're sitting on my patio in their pots. My question is: can I just leave them there until their permanent spots are ready, or should I temporarily plant them in my existing beds until I can transfer them to their final locations around late April or early May?

I’m in a similar situation! I have some potted plants and bulbs, but I need to rebuild a fence first. I think it’s better to wait to plant them right away. Just keep them in the pots for now!
Logically, if these plants weren’t bought, they'd be chilling in their pots at the garden center for months. So yes, they should do just fine waiting on your patio until you set up your new garden!
They should be just fine sitting in their pots for the time being. Pots keep them happy until you’re ready for the new borders!
Thank you for the reassurance!
Yeah, leaving them on the patio is totally fine. Just make sure they get some sunlight and water, and they’ll be happy until the new spots are ready.

Relieved I'm not the only one who feels this way!
