Should I Wait to Pull Weeds This Season?

I was doing some weeding in my garden and started to wonder about the timing. Is it a good idea to wait a bit longer in the season before weeding, especially to see if some of the plants that pop up are ones I've intentionally planted? What do others do?

Totally agree! I'm only tackling the obvious ones right now, like sycamore and oak seedlings. I keep some herb Robert for the wildflowers, but I'm letting the unknowns grow a bit more to figure out what they are, especially since I scattered wildflower seeds last year.

I've done the same! If I think a plant might look nice, I usually let it grow. One time I ended up with a giant deadly nightshade that worried my husband when our kid got older, so I had to pull it down. Never got it back to that size after that!

Yes, if I’m unsure about a weed, I leave it to grow. If it's native and attracts pollinators, it’s welcome! My shaded area is full of dandelions and daisies, which I think is great.

Yeah, I definitely wait! I've got a shrub that's about 3 feet tall and I'm just curious to see what it turns into before making any decisions.

Honestly, I've been too busy dealing with horsetail breaking through the pavement to worry about the easier weeds! I just pull out the shallow-rooted ones while I pass by but let the rest grow for now.

Haha, good luck with that! Horsetail can be such a pain.
