Should I Wait to Reglaze My Chipped Tub?

I've had a small chip in my tub for about a year now. I can see a tiny bit of the iron underneath, but thankfully, there's no sign of rust yet. We're considering getting it reglazed since someone else is willing to cover the cost, but I'm tempted to wait until we plan to move out in a few years. Reglazing seems like a hassle, plus I'd rather handle it all at once before moving. My spouse is concerned that rust will develop over time. What do you all think? Is it okay to wait until we see more damage, or should I take action now?

If you're nervous about rust appearing, a quick fix could be using a touch-up pen with Rust-Oleum gloss white. It’s easy to apply and shouldn’t interfere with future reglazing if you decide to do it later.

You might want to just coat the chip with a color-matched automotive paint pen for the time being. Reglazing can often be a bigger pain than dealing with just one chip.

As long as there’s no rust, you should be okay for a while. If you're really concerned, a porcelain repair kit from Home Depot can be a cheap way to seal the chip and prevent any future issues.
