Hey everyone! I've got this mature greengage tree in my garden that's been doing pretty well, but lately, with the heatwaves hitting us, its longer branches are drooping and the leaves are looking dry and wilted. The neighboring grass is completely dead, which is making me worry about my tree's health, especially since we aren't expecting rain until next weekend. I'm considering running a hose out to soak the ground near the tree's roots. Is it worth it to water it during this hot weather, or would it just be a waste of time? I want to help my tree keep its fruit as long as possible!

Trust your gut! If it says yes, then go for it. Sometimes the best call is simply following your instincts. Just make sure to give it some water!
I give my smaller fruit trees a bucket of water each week when it's this hot and dry. It really helps them thrive! While they're established and can survive, they definitely appreciate the extra care.
I’ve done the same with my apple and fig trees, and they seem to love it during these heatwaves!
Yes, seriously consider watering your tree! Established trees can usually find their own water, but in this heat, it can make a big difference. Even if you only have a few hours, any extra moisture helps. Better to give it a shot than risk losing those fruits!
I was wondering the same thing! I guess it's worth it, even if the roots go deep.

Haha, my gut says yes too, but I can’t help but worry about it.
