Should I Wet Sand Nitro Lacquer Orange Peel Now or After the Clear Coat?

I'm working on a guitar body, applying nitro lacquer and aiming for an EVH style design. I've completed the black color coats, but there's some noticeable orange peel across the body. I still need to tape it up for the white and red layers. My question is whether I should wet sand the orange peel out now after finishing the color coats or wait until after applying the clear coat and letting it cure.

I’d suggest wet sanding it now. If you flatten that orange peel between each color coat, you’ll have less risk of going through the layers later when you buff it out. Just use some 1k or 2k grit for that.

Got it! So I should sand it between each color coat, and then everything will be glossy once I put on the clear?
