I've got solar panels installed on my garage roof, which are positioned facing south. However, I'm worried since the main wind comes from the west. There's a noticeable gap between the panels and the roof itself, and I'm concerned that strong winds could potentially lift the panels off and damage the roof. Would it make sense to install some kind of wind deflector? Are there any other measures I can take to minimize the risk of this happening? Thanks for any advice!

It's crucial to check your local building codes when it comes to wind safety. If you’re in an area with strict codes, make sure your installation meets those standards. If you're worried about potential risks, consider building to Miami-Dade regulations; they’ve got some of the toughest standards when it comes to hurricane preparedness!
Based on experience from Florida, solar panels actually provide extra protection for your roof during strong winds. In many cases, you'll see roofs that are damaged but areas with panels remain intact. Just check out this pic demonstrating how panels can shield your roof! [Link to Image]
That’s really interesting! Thanks for sharing that info.
Not sure I completely buy that. The missing shingles all seem to point in the same direction, likely due to the wind's path.

I built it all up to code already, but I’m looking to exceed those standards for extra safety.
