Should We Hire a Contractor or Go DIY for Sliding Doors?

We're looking to add sliding doors to close off the front room in our newly built home. The challenge is that since it's an open concept, we don't have a partial wall to attach the doors to. We'll need a partial frame on either side, around 30 inches each, plus a bulkhead to install the door track. My husband and I have experience flipping houses, but I'll be six months pregnant when we tackle this project, which has me wondering if we should just hire a contractor instead. What do you guys think?

From my experience, DIY projects can take ages to start, and then they may drag on even longer. On the flip side, hiring a contractor means the job could be done in just a day or two, and they’ll handle all the mess, which is a big plus.

Great points, I definitely see the appeal in that!

When my wife was seven months pregnant, we didn’t even consider DIY for major projects. Hiring a contractor was the best choice for us – less stress and it got done quickly.

That’s what I’m leaning towards! I really don’t want to spend $15k, but I think it might save me a lot of stress.
