Hey everyone! My wife and I are eyeing Costco's 20% off deal on Bali Blinds. We're looking to install blackout cellular shades in our bedroom for three big windows (58" x 46"). Our main dilemma is whether to go for the motorized option. We love the idea of having them open automatically in the morning to let the sunlight in, waking us up naturally instead of relying on alarms. However, we're worried about the noise of the blinds opening. If anyone has experience with automated Bali Blinds, could you let us know how loud they actually are? Do you think automating them was a good choice or something you regret? We'd love to hear any tips, pros, or cons you might have!

I don't have the Bali blinds specifically, but I do have motorized blackout shades elsewhere in my home. It's been awesome to automate them! They open during the morning and lower at sunset, which keeps my western-facing rooms much cooler in the afternoons. They aren’t super loud, so I wouldn’t worry about them waking you up before the sunlight does—it's totally worth it!
We have the Bali blinds with a battery option, and I'd suggest them, especially for wider windows. A couple of things to consider though: they open and close slowly but aren't that loud. Also, mounting the battery pack can be tricky if you're doing an inside mount—definitely think about a wired installation if possible.
Thanks! I’ve heard mixed reviews about the app that controls it. Do you have issues with it?
I have the Bali blackout blinds in my house but haven't automated them yet. If you're planning to open them often, I definitely recommend getting the motorized version since they can be pretty heavy. They even offer top and bottom motorized options now, which is a game changer. If you're into waking up with the sun, go for the motorized ones!
Thanks for the insight! I like opening all the blinds first thing, so motorization seems like it could really simplify things.

Totally agree with you! Automation is a slight investment but the convenience it provides is unmatched.
