Hey everyone, I recently joined this community and have been going through a lot of experiences. My wife and I are currently in a contract for our first home in North Carolina, but we have some concerns. We've only ever rented, so this is a big deal for us. We're excited about the house we found, but we have worries about the drop ceilings (I'm 6'4") and asbestos siding. After the home inspection, new red flags popped up: we found issues with the brick foundation shifting, piers that are breaking and old, rotting beams, and signs of water damage, along with some questionable repairs done underneath the house. Given these problems, should we fight to keep this house we thought was our first home, or should we just cut our losses and move on? We're relocating to NC from out of state, so it's important to us to make a solid decision.

With all those issues—brick foundation shifting, breaking piers, rot in the beams and signs of water damage—it's pretty clear you should keep looking. There are plenty of great homes out there without this baggage!
Honestly, I'd say move on. There's just too much bad history with that house. Don't get attached to something you don't actually own yet. It could lead to a lot of headaches down the line.
That’s a really fair point. It’s easy to get sentimental about a place, but if it’s got major issues, it might be best to not get tied down.
