Hey everyone! I'm gearing up for a summer of processing firewood for a sauna and camping spots, but I'm restricted to manual tools since chainsaws aren't an option for me. The two pull saws I've narrowed it down to are the Silky Big Boy 2000 and the KatanaBoy 650. The Big Boy has a 36cm blade and costs around $120, while the KatanaBoy has a 65cm blade and is about $500. I'm currently leaning towards the Big Boy because it's cheaper, even if it may take longer to cut through bigger logs (I'll be dealing with up to 30cm logs). But I'm also worried I might regret not going for the more powerful option. What do you all think? Any recommendations or experiences to share? Thanks in advance!

Seriously, go for a bow saw instead; I've been clearing trees with one and it's way easier than I anticipated. Plus, it costs way less than those Silky saws!
The Silky saws are great, but their intricate teeth aren't ideal for heavy-duty firewood processing. If you want a quicker cut, a bow or buck saw is where it's at — just easier to handle and works faster for clearing. Plus, they’re more rigid and designed for the kind of work you're planning to do!
I’d really recommend getting a saw that can handle at least double the max log diameter. If you're working with larger logs, you definitely want to be able to clear the waste efficiently. Instead of the Silky, a buck saw might be a better fit — they're cheaper and can cut faster. Also, make sure to get some extra blades since you'll wear them out quickly with the volume you're processing! Just be careful with where you source your logs; chopping down trees can be illegal and dangerous if you’re not familiar with what you’re doing.
For sure! I’ve heard they make some tools in the same factories as more expensive brands, so check out local stores for better options. You might find similar saws at a fraction of the cost.

I completely agree! There are even other amazing saws from different regions that are made specifically for bulk work. Once I switched to a solid pull saw, my bow saws got put away for good!
