Soaking Seeds in Hot Water: Do I Need to Keep It Hot?

Asked By PaintedPotFan93 On

I recently got a plant kit where my kids and I can paint pots and grow flower seeds together. The instructions say to soak the seeds in hot water for 16-24 hours, but I'm a bit confused. Should I keep the water hot the entire time, or is it okay if it cools down while we're sleeping or throughout the day?

I've never heard of soaking seeds in hot water before, but it should be fine if the water cools off. Just make sure the water isn’t too hot at first, you don’t want to cook the seeds! Enjoy planting those flowers!
