Hey everyone! I'm a newbie just diving into the world of solar energy. I've been doing some research, but I'm looking for a little guidance on a few specific points: 1. What solar kits would you recommend for a 1500 sq ft house? 2. Is it worth it to connect to the grid, and what are the pros and cons? 3. If I decide not to feed back to the grid, what happens to the extra energy if my system produces more than I need? 4. Also, should I consider mining cryptocurrency with my excess energy? If you're not selling power back to the grid, consider setting your inverter to send excess power to a dump load once your batteries are full. This can include things like air conditioning or water heating.

You might want to manage your energy use by running heavy appliances during times when your system is generating plenty of power, like in the afternoon when the sun is out.

I started out with an off-grid kit from Signature Solar, which included around 11,000 watts of panels. I later added 4,500 watts more along with 30 kWh of battery storage. With an off-grid setup, once your batteries are charged, the system will regulate how much power comes in. I live in a similar-sized home in Florida and use window A/C units, which are much better for avoiding excess heat.
