Starting Welding: Equipment and Learning Resources

Hey everyone! I'm pretty handy with woodworking but just moved into my own house and found I need to do some welding, especially for fixing my horse trailer floor. I've never welded before, so I'm looking for recommendations on equipment to start with and any good learning resources aside from just watching YouTube. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I taught myself using MIG equipment, and it's been a journey for sure! I recommend taking a class if you can; it really helps speed up the learning process. I started with a 110V Miller Sidekick, which I bought at a scrap price, and then restored a MillerMatic 35. It's worth the investment!

You should definitely check out Jody Collier from Weldmonger on YouTube. He has tons of videos that clearly explain stick, MIG, and TIG welding processes. Super helpful for beginners!

Thanks for the suggestion! Is there one of these methods that's best for general repairs like the trailer floor?
