I just got a new dryer delivered, and the installers mentioned they couldn't connect the vent hose to the floor duct because it was the wrong size. We have a metal flange that fits into the ductwork hole, but I'm having a tough time getting the hose over the flange and into the hole. It seems like the flange can expand and contract, but when I finally get it in the duct, it's too small for the dryer hose to fit snugly. I managed to connect it a bit, but I can feel some air escaping around the hose and flange joint, which doesn't seem right. That said, I do see the airflow moving properly at the outside vent. Am I overlooking something here? How should I correctly connect the dryer hose to the floor vent?

It sounds like you're dealing with a size mismatch between your dryer hose and the flange. Did the installers mention what size flange you need? If the hose fits outside the flange but doesn't fit on it, a flange that’s the correct size might solve your issue. You might want to grab a 4-inch flange, which is pretty standard, and see if that works.
Posting pictures could really help figure this out! You can upload your flange image to imgur and share the link here. Seeing what you’re working with can give a clearer idea of what size or type of flange you might need.
Here’s the link to the picture of my flange: https://imgur.com/a/jpmtbbh. The hole in the floor leading to the vent is 4 inches.

Exactly! It's possible your previous dryer had a different size hose. It’s definitely worth checking with the new setup to make sure everything fits snugly.
