I'm trying to remodel my kitchen using IKEA cabinets, and I want to replace the old linoleum flooring with tile or extend the existing wood floor. However, I'm having a tough time finding contractors who want to take on this job. My kitchen is pretty small, around 10' x 13'. Am I being unreasonable in my expectations for tile contractors? The last contractor I spoke to wasn't kind about my choice of cabinets, which didn't sit well with me. Should I consider hiring someone who specializes in IKEA remodels to handle the entire project? Or, would it make more sense to try to tackle the tile flooring myself? I'm not particularly handy, but I'm desperate to get this done. What would you suggest?

It sounds like a small job, so contractors might be hesitant. My suggestion is to do the demo of the linoleum yourself and then bring in someone for the tile work. It's honestly easier than it sounds. IKEA cabinets are pretty straightforward to install too, so you could handle that part.
If you're not comfortable doing everything, consider reaching out to your friends for recommendations. Maybe someone knows a reliable handyman. You could also DIY the demo yourself to make it easier for a contractor to quote you.
Honestly, I'd say go for it yourself! YouTube is a treasure trove of tutorials, and sometimes it’s easier than you’d think. Just remember to double-check your waterlines before you tear everything out!
Definitely! Just make sure you’ve got the right tools. It's a lot easier with the right gear!

That makes sense! If I do the demo first, do you think it will help in finding someone?
