Hey folks! So I'm working on this old project chipper, and I'm stuck trying to get the wheels off. I've already jacked it up and removed the cotter pins, and while the wheels do spin freely, I just can't get them to budge. I've tried soaking them in Kroil, using a screwdriver and hammer to pry the bearings out, and even a three-jaw bearing puller, but it didn't work since the bearings are flush with the rim. Last resort was to smash the inside of the rim with a 2x4 and a heavy hammer—also no luck! I'm hoping someone here has a good tip for getting these wheels off without damaging anything. Thanks!

You might want to try using some rust-eating spray on the stuck parts before anything else. If that doesn’t work, consider using a pipe wrench to twist the rusted parts loose. Just be careful not to damage the rims!
I noticed in your photo there's a ball of metal on the bottom of the hub—is that a pin or something? It looks a bit unusual compared to other hubs I've seen.
Ah, that’s actually a grease fitting! This chipper’s a Kemp model and is around 50 years old.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely try the pipe wrench first and keep the rust spray in mind as well.
