Stuck Drilling Holes for Anchors in Drywall—Need Help!

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to drill some holes in my bedroom drywall for wall anchors, but I keep hitting something after about 1.5 inches and can't go any deeper. I've been cautious not to push too hard so I don't damage whatever is blocking the way.

Here's what I've done so far:
- Used a stud finder to locate the studs, marked in blue.
- Checked for any wires or metals behind where I want to drill using the stud finder's metal detection feature (got red and green markers).
- The most I can drill is about 1.5 inches into the red and green areas; the green hole was just to see if something is obstructing the red holes.
- I also tested drilling into the blue stud and it went in with no problem, which gives me some hope.

I really need to drill a few more holes along the line of those red ones in order to put in six anchor screws. Any advice on what I should do next?

Thanks for your help! You can see the area I'm talking about here: [https://imgur.com/a/QMw2whQ](https://imgur.com/a/QMw2whQ),

Have you thought about just screwing into the studs instead? It might be a more secure option for your Murphy bed setup.

Make sure to check what’s on the other side of the wall. If it’s an exterior wall, look for roof penetrations or plumbing that could be in the way. Also, you shouldn't have to drill that deep; you might just need toggle bolts to provide the support you're after.

Sounds like you might be hitting something unexpected. Is there a block wall behind the drywall? If the studs were placed primarily for drywall, there could be some hidden obstacles. Maybe explore that option!
