Stuck Hose Help – How Do I Remove It Safely?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to change out an old, cracked garden hose at my in-law's place, but it looks like it's stuck to the valve attachment. When I try to turn the hose end to loosen it, the attachment turns instead, probably due to some rust having built up. I can get it to turn a little, but then it just stops, and trying to turn it the other way makes it tighten even more. I'm worried about damaging their plumbing—any advice on how to tackle this without causing a mess?

Have you checked if it’s a quick release collar? If it is, you might just need to pull back the collar and pull out the hose fitting. That could simplify things for you! Just make sure to double-check what kind of device you’re working with.

Nope, turns out it’s an Anti-Siphon Vacuum Breaker—it looked like a quick release, but I learned that the hard way.

Honestly, your best bet might be to just replace the valve body itself. They're pretty inexpensive at your local hardware store! The attachment you're dealing with is an anti-siphon vacuum breaker, which can be a bit of a pain. If you're not dealing with industrial chemicals, you might not even need it for a home setup. Just keep in mind that there might be a screw holding it in place that could be causing some of those issues you’re experiencing.
