I'm a teacher running a gardening class for kids from pre-k to fourth grade. On some slow days, I'd love to read them a good book related to nature or gardening while we're out in the garden. Would a classic like 'Walden' by Thoreau work? Or are there more fitting options for younger kids? Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

I think 'Walden' might be a bit advanced for your little ones. Instead, try 'How Groundhog’s Garden Grew' by Lynne Cherry. It's a picture book that's perfect for pre-k kids and conveys a lovely story about gardening!
Another great one is 'One Day This Tree Will Fall' by Leslie Barnard Booth. It features beautiful illustrations and tells a story about the lifecycle of a tree and all the animals that interact with it at different stages. Your students will likely find it fascinating!
Don't forget about 'We Are the Gardeners' by Joanna Gaines! It's fun and teaches kids about teamwork in growing a garden. Perfect for reading aloud during your classes!
