Hey everyone! I live in an apartment, and my balcony gets pretty shaded throughout the day. I'm really eager to plant some fragrant flowers, but I've been hearing mixed opinions on what will actually grow well without direct sunlight. My dad had a green thumb and I would usually ask him, but sadly he's passed, and my mom isn't great with plants either. I could really use some solid advice on this! Any ideas?

First, think about how much sunlight your balcony gets and when. If you’re mostly getting afternoon sun, you're in luck! Afternoon sun is usually good for plenty of flowers. Like you mentioned, jasmine can do well in bright but indirect light, and lavender is also a lovely option, depending on your specific conditions. What are you leaning towards right now?
You might want to check out your state's Cooperative Extension Service online. They often have guidance on small plants for shady spots, including fragrant options. It’s a great resource!

I mostly get afternoon sun! I’m definitely interested in jasmine and lavender but open to more suggestions.
