I'm eager to dive into woodworking but I'm a bit lost on where to start. I'm looking for ideas on my first project and I'm thinking of buying tools as I go. Any suggestions on what I should tackle first?

A great way to kick things off is to check out some woodworking magazines; they often have beginner-friendly projects to inspire you. Plus, Rockler has some solid project ideas that might catch your eye. You can find more info [here](https://www.rockler.com/project-ideas).

You might want to start with practical items like cutting boards or picture frames. They can seem simple at first, but they can teach you a lot about woodworking and help you leverage your skills from basic to advanced techniques. Plus, they make great gifts!

That's a great tip! I hadn't thought about how versatile cutting boards could be. Thanks!

One of my first projects was a cherry wood bottle opener with a built-in magnet to catch caps. It was made using a miter saw and a router, and it turned out really well! I suggest deciding what you want to build first and then go from there. Here's a pic of how my first project turned out!
