I've recently moved into a new build, and my garden is basically a wasteland right now. I'm planning some landscaping work and am considering two options: artificial grass or a micro clover lawn, which I just learned about. I've never seen a micro clover lawn in person and don't know anyone with one, so I can't check them out. I'm thinking a micro clover lawn might be a more budget-friendly alternative to artificial grass, which tends to jack up landscaping costs. Can anyone give me the lowdown on what I should know about micro clover lawns? I'm looking for something that's low maintenance but still looks modern and nice!

Honestly, artificial grass just isn't worth it in the long run. It requires regular chemical cleaning, or else it starts to smell, plus you may have to replace it every few years. To set up a micro clover lawn, you'll need to clear any junk from the area, lay down some topsoil, and then mix in some grass seed with the clover. Just remember to water it regularly for the first month or so. If you plant it in late summer or autumn, it should do well! Once it's grown, it'll need mowing, but way less often than a traditional grass lawn. Micro clover can be more resilient, helps the soil with nitrogen, and it's better for bees!
I don't know much about micro clover specifically, but I really advise against artificial grass. There are plenty of eco-friendly options that can bring your lawn to life while being low maintenance. Think about what you really want from that garden patch. How much are you willing to spend, and how much upkeep are you prepared for? There’s so much to consider before you make your choice!
