Hey everyone! My partner and I moved into a new house about 6 months ago, and at first, we thought our neighbors were friendly enough. But things have gotten a bit uncomfortable. The wife tends to overstay her welcome, and her husband has been pretty pushy about us cutting down a tree that we've decided to remove for practical reasons. After we took it down, he now claims the fence between our yards is actually *his* fence despite the deeds saying otherwise, and he keeps making comments that make us feel uneasy. Given all this, we're seriously considering building our own fence – a 6.5ft one on our side of the boundary line to regain some privacy. Has anyone had a similar experience? What happened when you took this route?

I say just do it! You deserve your privacy, and a fence can definitely help with that. Maybe even plant a few new trees alongside to enhance the barrier. No need to let your neighbors dictate your space!
Definitely go for it! I had my neighbors do the same thing. They went up against my flimsy fence and while it shaded my garden a bit, they were totally within their rights. In your case, if they’re being annoying anyway, just build the fence and enjoy your garden!
Consider planting a hedge instead. Quick-growing ones like privet can offer good screening while looking nice too. Plus, it might help to keep things friendly, even if your neighbors aren't the best. It’s always nice to maintain a good vibe when you can!
Absolutely! A hedge can be both beautiful and functional. And it doesn't have to mean you're on bad terms either.

Good point! Sometimes you just have to assert your space.
