I'm considering installing a couple of skylights in my a-frame living room to brighten things up, but I'm hesitant. I really love the long wooden beams in the roof, and I'm worried that cutting into them might cause issues down the line. Has anyone here installed skylights and later regretted their decision?

I've got six skylights and honestly, I can't imagine living without them. They make a huge difference in the atmosphere of my home! Just be sure to go for good quality ones, like Velux. They're worth the investment.
Did you add them to an existing home, or were they part of new construction? I'm worried about potential issues if they're added later to an older structure.
