Thinking About LVP vs. Laminate Flooring: What Should I Know?

I'm considering new flooring for my 950 square foot house and I'm torn between LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) and laminate. Can anyone share the pros and cons of each option? Also, how much extra material should I buy to ensure I have enough coverage for my project?

A good tip if you're leaning towards LVP is to visit Home Depot or Lowe's. You can buy one box of different colors, lay them out in the space, and see which one you like best before committing. Just make sure to return any boxes you don’t use!

In my experience, laminate isn't the best choice—I'd steer clear of it. I usually recommend 13mm LVP, especially if you're looking for something budget-friendly compared to hardwood. If you scratch a tile, just swap it out for a new one; it's super easy. And if you happen to have a flood, just pull the flooring up and dry it out quickly! Just make sure your subfloor is smooth before you install. As for coverage, it's best to do an estimate for each room to know exactly how much you'll need!
