Thinking About Switching to an Undermount Sink: What Should I Expect?

I'm currently using a drop-in sink in my kitchen, but I'm considering switching it out for an undermount sink. I'm unsure about the extent of the work involved. Will I need to replace my countertop and the cabinet underneath? If the countertop is okay to keep, who can drill the necessary holes for the faucet? Also, I'm planning to upgrade to a faucet that has separate handles for hot and cold water along with a side sprayer. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Most plumbers should be able to handle the switch to an undermount sink, and you could also ask a general contractor. They can help ensure everything’s installed correctly and up to code. Just make sure to get quotes to understand the overall cost.

Thanks for the info! That sounds like a good plan.

Switching to an undermount sink can definitely be done, but it's not a simple swap and can get pricey. If you're looking at a custom sink, be ready for a significant expense, potentially in the thousands. Just keep that in mind while planning your project!
