Thoughts on Adding a Bathroom in My Basement?

I'm considering turning my unfinished basement with a concrete floor into a half bathroom. My plan is to break out some of the floor to connect to the plumbing stack, add a drain, and then frame out a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. The ceiling height is 7 feet, and I envision the bathroom being about 10x8 feet. Have any of you tackled a similar project? What advice do you have?

I've gone through this process myself! I rented a gas concrete saw and cut out the necessary paths, then dug down to lay and slope the drains for the shower. Covered it all back up with concrete after three days of work, and yeah, it was messy, but worth it! I connected to my horizontal line for drainage instead of the stack, which worked out well. Plumbing isn’t too complicated, but it pays to know what you're doing to avoid issues later. It's been five years since I finished, and everything's still running smoothly!

That sounds like quite the project! I have a smaller home, so my only connection is to the stack. I’m considering tying in below the slab, so I might sketch out a plan to visualize it better.
