Thoughts on My Garden Layout?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some feedback on my updated garden layout. I have four raised beds that are 6x4 each, with trellises between them. Plus, I've got a larger 12x6 bed planned for root veggies, corn, pumpkins, and sunflowers. I'm thinking of using the string method to trellis my tomatoes into long vines by cutting the suckers. I'm just wondering if you have any advice on the practicality of this setup or suggestions for improvements. Let me know what you think!

You've got a nice mix of crops, but it looks a bit cramped with the squashes and tomatoes all together. If it were mine, I'd use the northernmost row for trellised crops and reduce the squashes to three, giving them their own box. Also, consider planting some pole beans and climbing cucumbers. Don't forget about spacing those tomatoes that are disease-resistant! Oh, and try soaking your gourd seeds overnight for better germination. Good luck!

Thanks! I've made some updates to the plan, so check out the new layout above!

Reaching 4 feet high can be tough if you're not super tall! I did a 3-foot design and it ended up being a hassle to manage. Just something to consider!

Haha, yeah, that’s very true!

Your layout looks pretty good! Just keep an eye on how the trellises might shade the rest of your garden in the mornings and evenings. You might want to consider moving them to the north side to minimize shading. Also, harvesting the tomatoes in the middle could be a bit tricky, so plan for that!

Very true. Thanks for the heads up!
