Thoughts on Using Tesla Batteries for a Solar Set-Up?

Hey everyone! I'm considering building a solar setup for my skoolie and came across a video by Linus Tech Tips discussing Tesla batteries. They seem to be priced quite well, but I want to know what you all think about this setup. Are there any major concerns I should be aware of?

I've got to say, Tesla batteries aren't as safe as LFP batteries, which the video mentions. They also have fewer charge cycles. You’ll need a better Battery Management System (BMS) than the one it comes with because it's not sufficient on its own. I use the Vero BMS, which costs an extra ~$1000, but it can handle up to 64 Tesla modules. Plus, keep in mind that the minimum voltage for your inverter is higher than the minimum battery voltage for the '48V' pack. This means the inverter might shut off before you actually drain the batteries completely. If you're okay with these safety and BMS challenges, they can be a good budget option for backup power.

Wow, I didn't realize the Vero BMS would add so much to the cost. If I'm not planning on using many battery packs, it's probably not worth the expense. Thanks for pointing that out!
