Hey everyone! I've been renting an apartment in Boston for five years now, and while I've worked hard on my lawn, every summer it gets infested with house flies. These flies hover around 6-7 feet in the air and cover any unused furniture. If I sit still, they swarm me too! I've tried those smelly outdoor fly traps for the last two years, which catch tons of flies but don't seem to keep them away. There's no standing water around, just overhanging trees from the neighbors. Does anyone have effective strategies for tackling this problem so I can actually enjoy my lawn?

You might want to check if these are cluster flies. They look a lot like house flies and tend to thrive in lawns by feeding on earthworms, which could explain why they love your yard! Looking into that might help you find a solution.
We do have earthworms in the soil! I’ll definitely check into that, thanks!
