Tips for Creating Drainage in a Pot Without Holes

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on how to create drainage for my plants in a pot that doesn't have any drainage holes. Do I need to use different types of soil depending on the type of plant I have? Or is there a way to create a soil mix that works well for different plants?

A solid trick is to just place a plastic nursery pot inside your decorative pot. When it’s time to water, you can take the nursery pot out and give it a soak in the sink. This way, your plant gets the drainage it needs without messing up the look of your main pot!

That's really smart! I've been doing the same and it makes life so much easier.

You can also use a ceramic or glass drill bit to make a drainage hole if you're up for a little DIY. Just be careful with cracking!

Forget the rocks or leca at the bottom; that just doesn’t work. Seriously, most gardeners just stick with the nursery pot method. It’s way easier to water and switch plants around.

Totally agree! I tried the rocks and it was a disaster.
