Tips for Drilling Clean Holes in Wood

I'm struggling to get nice clean edges when drilling holes in wood, no matter what bits or speeds I try. Does anyone have suggestions or techniques that can help improve the quality of my holes?

One big tip is to use a drill press if you can. It keeps everything stable, which really helps with clean drilling. If you can't go that route, consider using a sacrificial piece of wood underneath to prevent tear-out when you drill through. And using painters tape on the surface can help keep the wood fibers from splintering.

Totally agree! That stabilization makes a world of difference!
