I'm looking for effective ways to remove blood stains from fabric, especially for fresh stains. I've read that turning the fabric inside out and flushing it with cold water is key, but I want to know if there are any other methods or products that work well. Any tips?

For smaller blood stains, surprisingly, your own spit can help! It has enzymes that break down the blood and usually works well for both fresh and older stains. It definitely saved a few of my white shirts from the bin! Just rinse and wash afterward to finish up.
Hydrogen peroxide is a solid option for blood stains. It oxidizes the heme and usually works like a charm on fresh stains. Just a heads-up though, results can be hit or miss if the stain has been through the wash already.
If you’re dealing with a larger amount of blood, try soaking the fabric in a saltwater bucket overnight before washing. I learned this trick from an ex-military medic, and it’s super effective!
