I've been struggling to grow smaller plants into larger, thriving ones. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get any of my plants to grow from a 4-inch pot to a 6 or 8-inch pot. Ironically, I can take care of bigger plants without much issue, except for my birds of paradise, which is not doing so well. Has anyone else experienced this? What am I doing wrong?

I used to have trouble with small pots too, but I learned my mistake was over-potting them too soon. It's important to let them grow into their current pot before moving to a bigger one. Maybe consider that if you haven't already!
I totally get your struggles! Smaller pots can be tricky. I find my 2-inch pots dry out fast, and keeping those plants alive is tough. I'm currently trying really hard to keep my Callisia and Wandering Dude alive since they seem to need water almost daily.
For smaller plants to really thrive, they need good light, water, and nutrients. In their natural habitat, tropical plants have bright sunlight, consistent moisture, and high humidity. If you're in a drier area, that could be a reason your smaller plants aren't flourishing. They've got to be pampered a little, you know? If you're struggling, maybe consider focusing on cacti and succulents instead!
That makes a lot of sense! I live in a dry subarctic area, and even with a humidifier, it's still a challenge to keep up with their needs.
