I'm considering some free-standing lean-to carports and need help figuring out how to properly anchor them. I've got a concrete driveway and some grass area where I'm thinking of placing it. Here are two options I'm looking at: Option 1 and Option 2. I wonder about the best method for securing them to the ground. I was thinking about using wedge anchors like the ones I found, but I'm not sure that'll be enough for the wind conditions. Would digging a hole and pouring a concrete footing be a viable alternative? If so, how deep and wide should that be? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated! Thanks!

Most carport kits include installation instructions, usually recommending you dig a hole between 1 to 3 feet deep and fill it with concrete for anchoring. The wedge anchors you mentioned might not hold up, especially in windy conditions. Be cautious about the quality of the carports too; some options might not stand up well against strong winds.

If you're in a colder region, make sure to dig below the frost line. In my area, it's usually around 48 inches to ensure stability.
