Hey everyone! I'm about to dive into installing an over-the-range microwave and I'm curious about the main things I should look out for. The microwave will be surrounded by cabinets, and the backsplash is right below it. I believe height is a crucial factor since there's usually some leeway with width and depth. However, I'm worried since these microwaves are non-refundable, and I'll need to hire someone for the installation. If I mistakenly get one that's slightly too tall, how would the installer handle it? Would they have to cut into the backsplash tile? I just want to avoid ending up with a ton of extra work. Any advice?

Most over-the-range microwaves are designed to fit a standard 30-inch opening, so start by checking that dimension. The back of the microwave mounts on a plate that goes on the wall at the right height, so if you look up the installation manual, it should give you all the measurements you need. Double-checking those before you buy can save you a lot of hassle!

So, if I make sure to match the height of the mounting plates, I'll be good to go?
