I've been struggling with keeping my cats away from my house plants. I've tried setting up shelves and even made a hanging plant pole by the sliding door, but my apartment doesn't have the best lighting options. I'm considering building a bookcase with chicken wire to block access, but I worry about breaking glass with heavy plants if I get a display cabinet. How do you manage your cats and your plants? Any tips?

One trick we found helpful was putting a layer of river rocks on top of the soil of the plants that our cats like to dig in. We keep most of our plants on high shelves, and our cats have learned to avoid them mostly thanks to a squirt gun for discipline! If you're interested in tropical plants, those glass cabinets can really help manage their temperature and humidity, just be careful with the glass!
We solved our plant issue by keeping them on elevated spots, which our cats generally stay off of. If your cats are persistent, a squirt gun might work, but mine just think it’s a game. That said, I've found those glass display cabinets are awesome for keeping plants safe and maintaining their environment... just watch out for clumsy moments, like you mentioned!
Haha, my cat is more like a gremlin too; nothing stops him! That’s why I’m considering a display cabinet, but I have to figure out a safe way to handle it!

That squirt gun technique sounds interesting! Though my cat just ignores it and embraces the chaos, haha. But I love the idea of using rocks; I might give that a try!
