Hi all! I'm new here and I could really use some advice. We moved in January and have a lovely garden, but I've been struggling with slugs for months while trying to grow dahlias and other flowers in separate containers. I've tried a few things like coffee grounds and protective containers, but those pesky slugs keep munching on my plants! I want to avoid using pesticides and keep everything as natural as possible. Any tips on keeping slugs away? Thanks a ton, and greetings from The Netherlands!

I've had a major slug problem too, and I found that diatomaceous earth works wonders! Sprinkle it around the base of your plants, and it creates a barrier. Also, make sure to clear away any tall grass or weeds nearby, as they can attract slugs. It helps if you skip watering in the early morning since that's when slugs are most active. Good luck!
I recommend using beer traps! Just bury a small pot in the ground and fill it with beer. Slugs are attracted to it and will fall in and drown. It’s kind of gross to clean up the next day, but it works really well!
I’ve heard that slug pellets like Sluggo can be effective since they contain iron phosphate and are non-toxic. Just be cautious with them around pets. And as for coffee grounds and eggshells, they don't keep slugs away, so you might want to add those to your compost instead!
