I'm located in Southern New Jersey and I just found some Bluecrop blueberry bushes for sale. I'm planning to plant them directly in my backyard since the soil pH seems good. Should I mix anything into the soil before planting, or is it better to use just the native soil? Also, should I add a layer of topsoil? If so, what kind should I use? Thanks in advance for your help!

You don't need to mix anything into the native soil for blueberry bushes. Just plant them directly in the native soil. However, spreading some good compost as mulch around the base of the plants is a great idea! It will help retain moisture and provide nutrients.

Got it, sounds straightforward! When you say to mulch with compost, do you just mean spreading a layer on top around the plant? Is there a specific type of compost you recommend?
