Tips for Remodeling a Bathroom with a Concrete Slab Shower

I'm thinking about downsizing my shower from 33"x58" to either 33"x40" or 48" to make my tiny bathroom feel more spacious. The current shower pan has the drain in the center, but if I choose a new pan, the drain hole won't line up with the existing one in the concrete floor. Are there shower pans out there that allow for drilling a custom drain hole?

You have a few good options here! Brands like Wedi, Empervious, and GoBoard make shower pans that can be cut down to fit your needs. Just a heads up, they aren't the cheapest and you'll have to do some extra tiling work, but they'll definitely work for what you need. Remember, any pan you choose will need to slope toward the drain, so it might be tough to find a standard acrylic pan that fits perfectly without some adjustments.

If you're looking for flexibility, a tile pan could be your best bet since you can set the drain wherever you want it. Just keep in mind that setting it up might take a bit more effort on your part!

Absolutely! Here are three approaches you might consider: 1. A shower pan liner with dry pack mortar - but this requires you to create the slope yourself, which can be tricky. 2. A Schluter pan that lets you adjust the slope with mortar to fill in any gaps (there’s a tutorial [here](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_BfZJicxlhY) if you're interested). 3. You could also have a custom shower pan made to fit your exact dimensions and slope. Just search for custom shower pans online and you should find some options!
