Tips for Removing an Old Chimney and Dealing with Leaks

I've got a leak in my roof around an old chimney from the 1930s that's no longer in use. I'm thinking about removing it to fix the leak, but I'm a bit concerned. Is it a big deal if there's venting in the attic? I want to take down the entire chimney eventually, but could it be structurally important? Any advice would be really helpful!

You can take it down piece by piece, starting from the top with a sledgehammer. It’s usually not a structural concern, so you shouldn’t have too many issues. Just make sure to check what’s above and below before you start! If the chimney has a solid base, you can drop debris inside or throw it off the roof, whatever works for you!

Sounds like I’ll need to hit the gym before I start! Thanks for the tip!
