Hey everyone! I'm looking for some help with a frustrating situation. Someone spray painted a racist symbol on a bollard near my home, and I can't stand the sight of it. I reached out to the local authorities, but they said it could take over 6 months to address it, so I decided to tackle it myself. The bollard is white and made of soft plastic that bends a bit when touched. I initially tried using white spirit and a dish scrubbing brush, but no luck. Any advice or tips on how to effectively remove that red spray paint? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried using a magic eraser? That product works wonders on many surfaces. Start with that to remove some of the paint before considering a cover-up.
Acetone could do the trick, like nail polish remover, but be careful—it might damage the soft plastic. If that sounds risky, you could start with something milder like WD-40 or a graffiti remover that’s safe for plastic. A plastic scraper might help lift some of that paint away too!
Just a heads up, if it’s a St. George's cross, it’s technically our national flag, although I get the concern about the context. Regardless, it’s also about the aesthetics here—it's definitely not pretty! Sounds like that symbol is used by some not-so-great folks, especially considering the context you've shared.
Honestly, one quick fix could be to just paint over it with some white paint. If you're not too worried about it being perfect, that might save you a ton of trouble!

It's true that context matters a lot! And let's be real, whether it's hijacked or not, it doesn’t belong there. It's definitely better to have it removed for the community's sake.
