Hey everyone! I'm reaching out to you all for some advice on how to sell a bunch of used tools and equipment that belonged to my father-in-law. He used to be a weekend woodworker and has accumulated quite a collection over the years, which has turned into a bit of a hoarding situation. There's a variety of large power tools like a drill press, table saw, planer, and bench grinder, mainly from Craftsman, along with some hand tools still in their packaging. Most of these tools are in decent condition but just need a little TLC. However, my father-in-law wants to get rid of them, and I'd love to help out, especially since I know his financial situation isn't great. I'm unsure whether I should try selling them on platforms like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, or if I should just consider donating them to a charity like Habitat for Humanity. Any thoughts would be super helpful. Thanks a lot!

I've had a lot of experience clearing out my mom’s house recently, and honestly, it was tough to find cash buyers on Craigslist. Most people are just looking for deals, and I ended up giving away so much stuff. Just a heads up that you might face the same situation!
If you're looking for a hands-on approach, Facebook Marketplace is a solid option. You could also check out auction houses if you prefer to let someone else handle the selling for you. Just be mindful that older Craftsman power tools generally don't fetch high prices. I sold an old Craftsman tablesaw in excellent condition for only $75 after a month of being listed, so patience is key here!
Good point about the Craftsman tools. They can be tricky to sell unless they're like, pristine. I've had better luck with free platforms like Craigslist and Facebook too.

Sounds like I might have to prepare for that as well. Thanks for the heads-up!
