Tips for Squaring Corners When Making Mortise and Tenon Joints

I'm working on a project involving mortise and tenon joints, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get crisp, clean corners. I've been considering the idea of using a jig to help square the corners with a chisel. Has anyone ever made a jig for this purpose? What techniques do you use if you're struggling to hold the chisel at the correct angle while cutting? I want to make sure my corners are precise, and I'm curious if there's already a jig out there that could help.

Yeah, corner chisels do exist! There's a specific type designed for door lock mortises that you can just position and strike with a hammer. I’ve seen some traditional corner chisels as well that have right-angled cutting edges. That said, I've always used a regular chisel and found it manageable, so I can’t really comment on whether those corner chisels are worth the investment or not. They're not terrible, but it's a personal preference in my experience.

I looked into those corner chisels too. They seem like they could complicate things further and sharpening them can be tricky. From what I've found, a lot of folks think they aren't really worth it.
