Tips for Tackling Smoke Damage from a Microwave Mishap?

Asked By CuriousKat98 On

Hey everyone! My microwave recently malfunctioned and ended up melting some plastic wrap, which caused a huge mess and now we have this awful smoke smell lingering everywhere. I'm trying my best to clean it up, and I've been using an ozone generator daily, but it feels like the smell just won't go away. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any tips or advice on how to tackle this situation?

Honestly, if your microwave melted stuff and it smells burnt, it might be a lost cause. I'd recommend just getting rid of it since the burning electronics smell can be really tough to get rid of. Once it's gone, you won't have to keep dealing with the odor. Plus, it's safer not to use a malfunctioning appliance.

Yeah, I made the same decision when my microwave started acting weird. Best move I could make!

I totally get where you're coming from with that smell! Have you tried just airing the place out? Open all the windows and run some fans to get fresh air in. It works wonders in getting rid of lingering odors.

Open windows and fans helped a ton when I burned popcorn! Definitely worth a shot.

For that pesky odor, I've found that placing a bowl of vinegar out helps neutralize smells. Just let it sit out for a bit. Also, there's this Fresh Wave Gel that really works magic—I've used it in closed spaces, and it just makes everything smell fresh without adding a lot of perfume scents.

I actually tried the vinegar trick and it worked for me! Thanks for the tip!
